What is a boiler plane?

Types of Boiler Aircraft

This type of boiler can be distinguished from a variety of things such as characteristics, work methods, type of pipe and fuel used. Each type of boiler has advantages and disadvantages of each, as we have described below:

Boiler Type Based on Tube Type (Pipe):

1. Fire Tube Boiler

In this boiler has two parts in it, namely the tube which is the place where the combustion takes place and the barrel / barrel containing the fluid. This fire pipe boiler type has the characteristics of producing low amounts of steam and limited capacity.

The Principle of Work: The ignition process occurs in the pipe and the heat generated is delivered directly into the boiler containing water.

Pros: The installation process is quite easy and does not require special arrangements, does not require a large area and has a low cost.

Disadvantages: Having a combustion that is difficult to reach when you want to clean, low steam capacity and less efficient because a lot of heat is wasted.

2. Water Tube.

It has a construction that is almost the same as the type of fire pipe, this type also consists of pipes and barrels, which distinguish only the side of the pipe filled by water while the side of the barrel is the place where the combustion occurs. The characteristic of this type is to produce relatively large amounts of steam.

Working Principle: The ignition process occurs on the outer side of the pipe, so that heat will be absorbed by the water flowing in the pipe.

Strengths: Having a large steam capacity, relatively higher efficiency and combustion furnaces are easy to reach when cleaning.

Disadvantages: The initial investment cost is quite expensive, requires a large area and requires additional components in terms of handling water.

Based on the type of fuel

1. Solid Fuel

This type of boiler uses solid fuels such as wood, coal, with characteristics such as fuel prices are relatively cheaper and more efficient when compared to electric boilers.

Working Principle: Heating comes from burning solid fuels or it can also be a mixture of several solid fuels (coal and wood) which are assisted with oxygen.

Pros: Fuel is easy to get and cheaper.

Disadvantages: Burning residue is difficult to clean,

2. Fuel Oil (Oil Fuel)

This type has fuel from the petroleum fraction, with the characteristics of having a more expensive combustion raw material, but having a better efficiency value compared to the others.

Working Principle: Heating originating from combustion products between a mixture of liquid fuels (kerosene, solar, residue) and oxygen and heat sources.

Pros: Having a small amount of combustion that is easy to clean and easy to obtain raw materials.

Disadvantages: Having expensive raw materials and expensive construction.

3. Gaseous Fuel
